BRIDGE Lab
Brain Research, Innovation, Discovery, Growth, and Equity

About the Lab

Traumatic brain injury, Alzheimer’s disease, and related dementias are extremely common. People with these conditions also often suffer from sleep disorders, further compromising brain health. Whether or not a person is predisposed to adverse outcomes depends on their age, health status, and a variety of social equity parameters, including gender. This emphasizes the need to consider the intersection between a person, their environment, and life circumstances in the prevention, treatment, and care of conditions affecting brain health.

Dr. Tatyana Mollayeva leads the BRIDGE Lab, based at the KITE Research Institute at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, University Health Network (UHN) affiliated with the University of Toronto. The lab focuses on understanding brain health throughout the lifespan and exploring the role of equity in the course of neurological disorders and injuries. The goal is to advance person-centered prevention, care, and rehabilitation.

By bridging people across levels of study, disciplines, and knowledge systems, we co-create inclusive, evidence-based solutions that are essential to progress brain health research, policy, and practices.
